Meet the Host
Damaris
Nightingale
Entrepreneur, systems thinker, founder, and host of My Many Selves.
For more than thirty years, Damaris Nightingale built a career in Information Technology and corporate leadership. That work taught her to look closely at systems: how individual parts relate, how one change affects another, and why context matters.
Her path has also moved through questions that are less easily contained by a system diagram. She has studied Computer Science and Statistics, Metaphysics and Spiritual Psychology, perfumery, herbalism, consciousness, and the ways people make meaning from their lives.
Those worlds may look separate at first. To Damaris, they have always belonged to the same conversation.
What happens when the system you are trying to understand is a human being?
That question sits close to the heart of My Many Selves, a podcast exploring consciousness, psychology, spirituality, identity, intuition, technology, and lived experience. Damaris does not ask listeners to choose between reason and wonder. She makes room for both, with curiosity welcomed and discernment kept close.
Experience & Background
A life across disciplines.
These are not separate identities on a resume. They are different lenses through which Damaris has learned to look at systems, people, perception, and consciousness.
Metaphysics & Spiritual Psychology
A PhD in Metaphysics and Spiritual Psychology, reflecting a parallel interest in consciousness, meaning, inner experience, and questions that do not always fit neatly inside a single discipline.
Computer Science & Statistics
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with studies in Statistics, grounding part of her work in structure, logic, measurement, and analytical thinking.
Natural Perfumery & Olfactory Study
Study with perfumer Raed Butrous, perfumer training in Grasse, France, and natural perfumery training with Abdessalaam Attar in Rimini, Italy.
Founder of Scented Potions
A natural fragrance and botanical formulation practice bringing together aromatic materials, ritual, sensory experience, and identity.
Founder & Owner of Numinax
An independent project focused on personalized constitutional frameworks, individual patterns, and lifestyle guidance.
How I See
Patterns, relationships, and the whole.
People often ask me, “How do you know?”
For many years, I struggled to answer that question myself.
Then I realized something.
I don’t seek patterns.
I simply see them.
I naturally notice relationships, analogies, and common threads where others may see separate ideas. Whether I am looking at a complex technology system, studying consciousness, listening to someone’s story, or working with fragrance, my mind keeps returning to the same question:
How do these parts relate to the whole?
From Systems to Selves
For more than thirty years, I built my professional life in Information Technology and corporate environments. But I was never only working with technology.
I was studying systems.
Technology taught me that a complex system cannot be understood by looking at one component in isolation. Relationships matter. History matters. Environment matters. Context matters. Change one part and something else often responds.
Over time, I began seeing the same principle in people. A human being cannot be reduced to one emotion, belief, profession, relationship, role, or moment in time. We are physical, emotional, mental, sexual, and spiritual. We are logical and intuitive. Certain in one moment and questioning in the next.
My academic path reflects two sides of the same curiosity. I studied Computer Science and Statistics, disciplines that taught me to respect structure, evidence, and measurable relationships. I also pursued Metaphysics and Spiritual Psychology, where the questions often moved in another direction.
What is consciousness?
How do identity and awareness relate to one another?
How do we make sense of experiences that feel meaningful but are difficult to measure?
I believe discovery often begins where disciplines meet.
Evidence, Experience & Wonder
Curiosity is welcomed.
Discernment is essential.
Not every question explored on My Many Selves has the same kind of answer. When established research exists, I want to understand it. When evidence is incomplete, I want to leave room for that uncertainty. When I share something from my own life, I want it to remain what it is: an experience, not a rule that someone else is required to accept.
Scientific inquiry matters because it gives us disciplined ways to test what we think we know. Human life also includes grief, love, memory, intuition, meaning, dreams, synchronicities, spiritual questions, and moments that do not always arrive with a simple explanation.
My Many Selves is not a place where every unusual experience has to become a fact. It is also not a place where every unanswered question has to be dismissed. That is the space I want to explore: open enough to wonder, grounded enough to keep asking what we actually know.
A Lifelong Curiosity
My curiosity did not begin with a podcast. As a little girl, I was already making formulas and asking questions about the meaning of life, consciousness, and the nature of our existence.
Long before Scented Potions became a company, my home held a small laboratory where I spent years creating lotions, perfumes, botanical preparations, and other formulas for family and friends.
At first glance, technology, fragrance, spirituality, statistics, psychology, and consciousness may look like unrelated interests. To me, they have always been different doors into the same room.
What shapes the way a human being experiences life?
Technology taught me to see systems. Fragrance taught me to pay attention to memory, perception, identity, and sensory experience. Spiritual Psychology gave me another language for the inner life. Life itself brought the rest: love, grief, uncertainty, contradiction, intuition, change, and questions no single discipline could answer for me.
You are not one thing.
You are an entire constellation.
Why I Created My Many Selves
None of us is only one identity.
The logical one. The spiritual one. The professional. The caretaker. The skeptic. The seeker. The person we were ten years ago. The person someone else decided we must be.
Different parts of us come forward through relationships, environments, responsibilities, fears, desires, memories, and changing levels of awareness. My Many Selves explores that experience through five broad expressions that appear throughout the podcast.
The Physical Self
The body, sensation, instinct, breath, and our embodied experience.
The Sexual Self
Desire, vitality, creativity, attraction, connection, and generative energy.
The Emotional Self
The part that loves, grieves, fears, longs, feels joy, and opens to vulnerability.
The Mental Self
Thoughts, beliefs, memory, analysis, stories, interpretation, and meaning-making.
The Spiritual Self
Purpose, connection, consciousness, the sacred, and questions that reach beyond the individual personality.
They are not boxes. They are a map.
Who, or what, is aware of them all?
Experience Across Disciplines
Different lenses.
One long curiosity.

Everything I have studied, from technology and statistics to perfumery, psychology, metaphysics, consciousness, and human behavior, has been part of one long pursuit:
Understanding what it means to be fully human.
I have always been more interested in possibility than limitation. Some people see boundaries. I naturally see bridges. Some people see separate disciplines. I see the threads connecting them.
Over time, I also learned something important: noticing a connection is not the same as proving one. Curiosity and discernment belong in the same room.
I know how to color inside the lines.
I simply don’t believe the lines define the whole picture.
If something here feels familiar, perhaps you have also sensed that human beings are more complex, more connected, and harder to reduce to a single category than we often allow.
Welcome to your many selves.
